Salad Turnips

These sweet, mild turnips add immediate texture to any dish and are an addictive snacking vegetable. The greens are possibly the healthiest part and make an excellent addition to salads, sandwiches, and omelets.

Flavor & Preparation

Salad turnips have a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor, with a crisp and crunchy texture. After a quick rinse, they are ready to be sliced and eaten raw, either in a salad or topped with finishing salt. Try them with your favorite hummus or onion dip for an excellent contrast.

The greens are moderately bitter without being overwhelming, and can be cooked into almost any dish that calls for other greens. Try slicing them thinly and cooking down with a little garlic and extra virgin olive oil.

Health Benefits

  • Packed with vitamins and minerals (Vitamins A, B, C, K, as well as calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, and zinc)

  • The greens are an excellent source easily-absorbed iron
