Head Lettuce

A farmer’s market favorite! We grow a variety of head lettuces throughout the season for a steady supply of crisp and sweet greens for your just-picked salad or the ultimate BLT.


Flavor & Preparation

Head lettuces are best raw, with a sweet flavor and tender, crisp leaves ready to go as soon as they are washed. Store them in your veggie drawer of the refrigerator for up to a week before using (though we find their texture is best if eaten within 4 days).

Due to their sweet flavor, head lettuces can be used as a base for almost any salad, and are a good pairing with peppery ingredients like radishes and milder cheeses, such as a plain goat cheese.

The broad leaves also lend themselves to using on sandwiches and burgers, where they’ll add great texture without overwhelming the overall flavor of your meal. We also like to use the leaves for lettuce wraps (pro tip: this is one of the fastest, easiest, and healthiest dinners to throw together!).
